Gathering/Breakfast
|
Center Play is available as the children gather until breakfast is served. |
Circle Time |
The formal opening of the day begins with music and movement, Pledge of Allegiance, signing, poetry and a movement activity. A song, poem or finger play in Spanish is also featured once a week. |
Group Time One |
Language and Literacy is taught through the Story Stretchers curriculum. This program includes a selection of high quality books and activties. Children listen to the stories and then actively participate in activities based on ideas, concepts and material from the book. Teachers expand upon these activities by using puppets, creating a read along tape for the listening center or creating a flannel board scene where children learn comprehension and recall skills. |
Center Time |
Language learning opportunities spontaneously arise throughout every part of the day. Each classroom is equipped with a comprehensive writing center that makes learning the alphabet fun! Degreed teachers carefully plan activities that encourage reading and writing. Writing down what children say, or dictation, allows the child to use their own unique words to connect the spoken word with the written word. Putting children's thoughts down on paper provides opportunities for one-on-one conversations with a teacher so we can determine children's thoughts and ideas and use them as a vehicle for learning how to read and write. |
Outdoor Play/Indoor Gross Motor Play |
The children participate in physical gross motor play with specialized equipment both inside and outside (weather permitting). |
Group Time Two-Mathmatics
|
Math Their Way focuses on concrete and tactile experiences in the learning of number concepts and options. By collecting, sorting and comparing materials, children learn a variety of mathematical concepts, such as counting, and numbers and understand computation, estimation, and measurement, geometry, patterns and number functions. Science is Simple compliments our math programs using hands-on lively activities. Presented in small groups, both programs are designed to teach concepts sequentially, using fun, everyday materials. |
