Minnieland Chosen to Participate in Mixed Delivery Preschool Initiative
Minnieland Academy at England Run at 151 Litchfield Boulevard in Fredericksburg, and Minnieland Academy on Courthouse Road in Spotsylvania have been chosen to partner with Smart Beginnings Rappahannock in the Mixed Delivery Preschool Pilot which works to ensure all children eligible for the Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI) are able to access programming.
In announcing the program Virginia Governor McAuliffe said, “Early childhood development is critical in ensuring our children have the best opportunities to succeed in K-12 and beyond. I introduced funding for these pilots so as to encourage bold and collaborative new approaches to ensuring any child eligible for VPI is able to benefit from the program. In order to build the workforce of the future, we must ensure that we are preparing all of our students to succeed in the new Virginia economy, beginning with high quality early childhood.”
The Virginia Department of Education is awarding five $250,000 grants to local community groups, including Smart Beginnings Rappahannock Area, who has chosen to partner with Minnieland Academy. This community-driven pilot purchases available classroom space in our child care centers to serve at-risk four-year-olds, creating classrooms that serve children from diverse socio-economic households.
Carol Clark, Executive Director of Smart Beginnings Rappahannock said, “I look forward to working with Minnieland on the Mixed Delivery Preschool Pilot project in achieving the goal that all children eligible for the Virginia Preschool Initiative are able to access to quality educational programming.”
