Youth Zone Summer Camp Fun

Week of June 20-24 - A Hero's Adventure

Campers will experience the life of different superheroes as they work in teams to create their ideal hero, write a skit, design costumes and perform on stage for the grand finale.

  • Monday - Bring your ideal superhero to life.
  • Tuesday: - Design your hero's costume.
  • Wednesday - Popsicle Superhero's and Superhero Snack Mix
  • Thursday - Finalize superhero stories
  • Friday - Dress like a superhero. Summer camp kickoff party and performance.

Week of June 27-July 1 - Ready, Set, Go!

Planes, trains, automobiles, Oh My! Exploring many different modes of transportation will have our campers ready to get set and go. Climb inside Police Officer John Alford's arena racecar as he shares many racing experiences and reemphasizes the importance of different safety measures such as helmets and seatbelts.

  • Monday- Swimming- Youth Zone and Junior Kindergarten Campers (Marble Roller Coasters) Tuesday - In house event- John Alford and the Ice Cream Truck
  • Wednesday - International Mud Day- Swimming- Youth Zone Campers
  • Thursday- Field Trip- Bowling- Youth Zone Campers
  • Friday - Solo Cup Rocket Launchers

Week of July 4 - July 8 - We Rock!

Rock on with our campers as they experience the many different meanings of the word rock.

  • Monday -July 4'" Independence Day (Center Closed)
  • Tuesday-Our Marines are Rock Solid- Field Trip- Youth Zone Campers will visit the Marine Corps. Museum
  • Wednesday- Swimming- Youth Zone Campers and Pop Rock Experiment
  • Thursday-In house event- Rock On with B & B Sound Machine
  • Friday - Digging up bones- or are they just fossil cookies?

Week of July 11- July 15 - Back to Our Roots

Campers will delve into family heritage and local history as well as hone their gardening skills. Campers will be inspired to make nutritional culinary creations to include nutritional family favorites.

  • Monday - Swimming -Youth Zone Campers and Junior Kindergarten Campers
  • Tuesday - Field Trip- Junior Kindergarten Campers-Trolley Ride in downtown Fredericksburg
  • Wednesday - Swimming Youth Zone Campers and working in the vegetable gardens
  • Thursday - Field Trip- Youth Zone Campers -James Monroe Museum and Dress Like a Time Traveler Day
  • Friday - Family Cookout

Week of July 18-July 22 - A Wild Adventure

Campers will not just "Survive" the summer but THRIVE by learning camping skills, how to build their own shelter, make their own clothes, and use teamwork to face group challenges to gain rewards for their tribe.

  • Monday- Swimming Youth Zone Campers and Junior Kindergarten Campers
  • Tuesday- Field Trip-Junior Campers- The Reston Zoo and Elephant Toothpaste Experiment Wednesday- Swimming -Youth Zone Campers
  • Thursday- Field Trip- Youth Zone Campers -Richmond Zoo
  • Friday - Survivor Games

Week of July 25-July 29 - Adventures in Space

Exploring solar systems, constellations, rocketry and science fiction.

  • Monday- Swimming Youth Zone Campers and Junior Kindergarten Campers and Hunting for Moon Rocks
  • Tuesday - In house event- Moon Bounce and Concocting Alien Slime
  • Wednesday- Swimming -Youth Zone Campers and G-Force Paintings
  • Thursday- Field Trip- Youth Zone-Science Museum
  • Friday - Construct Paper Mache' Planets

Week of August 1-August 4 - Let's Play

  • Monday- Swimming Youth Zone Campers and Junior Kindergarten Campers
  • Tuesday - Field Trip-Junior Kindergarten- McDuff Park- Mix and Mold Bouncy Balls
  • ­Wednesday - Swimming -Youth Zone Campers
  • Thursday- Field Trip- Youth Zone- Sports Extravaganza at McDuff Park
  • Friday- Team Spirit Day (Wear your favorite jersey)

Week of August 8-August 12 - Bugging Out

Campers will Creep and Crawl through an intensive study of all things buggy.

  • Monday- Swimming Youth Zone Campers and Junior Kindergarten Campers
  • Tuesday - In house event- Going Buggy
  • Wednesday- Swimming -Youth Zone Campers
  • Thursday- Field Trip- Youth Zone- Snead's Farm (Snead's Bees presentation)
  • Friday - Edible Bugs

Week of August 14-August 18 - Mad Science

Everything science -from explosions to experiments campers will learn to implement the different scientific methods.

  • Monday- Swimming- Youth Zone Campers and Junior Kindergarten Campers
  • Tuesday - Field Trip-Junior Kindergarten Campers Mad Science Experiments at Loriella Park and Explosive Paintings
  • Wednesday- Swimming -Youth Zone Campers and Experiment- Growing Gummy Bears Thursday- Field Trip - Youth Zone- Mad Science Experiments at Loriella Park
  • Friday - Candy Science

Week of August 22 -August 26 - Do It Yourself

Campers will gain, crafting, baking and woodworking skills.

  • Monday - Swimming- Youth Zone and Junior Kindergarten Campers
  • Tuesday - Jewelry Creations
  • Wednesday - Swimming -Youth Zone Campers and Making play-dough
  • Thursday - Preparing a 4 course meal with Chef Suzie
  • Friday - Constructing bird feeders and designing an earth quake proof tower

Week of August 29- September 2 - Make it Messy

Campers will get messy by creating abstract art and being involved in large art projects.

  • Monday- Scribble Bots
  • Tuesday- In house event- Ice cream truck
  • Wednesday- Mixing up a batch of Chalk Rocks
  • Thursday- Molding unique clay pots
  • Friday- Summer Camp Luau
