SKIPWITH ACADEMY is located in the historic home of Admiral Grey, Jr. and Kate Skipwith. It is located in the West End of Richmond. The brick English Tudor style house was built in 1927 on a civil war camp site. Families enter from the slate patio, through a main door flanked by French doors, into an enormous parlor with oak floors that continue to run throughout the home. Off of the parlor, on the main floor, are classrooms located in the what originally were the formal dining and family rooms, complete with fireplaces (now sealed).
In this historic and unique setting the very best in early childhood education takes place. More than just a daycare center, Skipwith Academy is your child's home away from home with large, bright classrooms, award-winning books, enticing toys, arts and crafts, and engaging educational activities. When you walk into our school, you will be welcomed into the Skipwith Academy family of well-trained and caring childcare professionals who make learning fun and exciting.
Minnieland is proud to support our military families and partner with the National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies (NACCRRA) in our accredited schools.
